Santa Clara, June 23: Algeria has kept its hopes alive for the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026 by defeating Jordan 2-1 in a Group J match at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium.

Jordan initially took the lead with a goal, but Algeria responded strongly in the second half, scoring two goals to secure the win. This defeat eliminates Jordan from the tournament.

According to FIFA reports, both Algeria and Jordan lost their opening matches, making this game crucial for their chances of advancing. Algeria displayed patience and skill, maintaining their hopes for the next stage.

With this match, Algeria became the 44th nation to score in this World Cup.

Nizar Al-Rashdan scored for Jordan in the 36th minute of the first half. Algeria’s goals came from Nadhir Benboulil in the 69th minute and Amin Gouri in the 82nd minute.
