New Delhi, August 13: The political landscape has intensified following the announcement that former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das will join the ongoing student protests in Ranchi. The Congress party has responded sharply, suggesting that Das should undertake a hunger strike to express his remorse.
Congress MP Sukdev Bhagat commented on Das’s recent statements, saying, “He shows so much love for the students now. Let me remind you that from 2014 to 2019, Raghubar Das was the Chief Minister, and during those five years, not a single JCSPE exam was conducted. He must first answer who is responsible for not holding the exams during his tenure.”
Bhagat further stated, “I believe he should go on a hunger strike, but it should be for his own repentance.”
Independent MP Pappu Yadav from Purnia added, “Raghubar Das and the BJP have no future left. They face numerous corruption allegations. First, they should protest within their own party regarding these issues. There are four former chief ministers, and their internal conflicts are ongoing. Raghubar Das has lost all credibility. He must first answer the people of Jharkhand about what has been taken from them and address the numerous paper leaks that occurred during his administration.”
Earlier, Raghubar Das visited the protesting students in Ranchi on Thursday. During this meeting, he stated that if there is no concrete action on the students’ demands, he will join the protest himself. He mentioned that if necessary, he would begin a hunger strike at the Samadhi site of Lord Birsa Munda in a week.
It is noteworthy that students have been protesting in Ranchi for the past 20 days, demanding a CBI investigation into the JPSAC and other exams. Many students are currently on hunger strike, and their health is deteriorating rapidly.
