Tehran, August 13: The Palestinian organization Hamas has expressed support for Iran’s stance, which calls for an end to all ongoing conflicts in the region and the implementation of a comprehensive ceasefire.
Hamas welcomed the recent comments made by Mohsen Rezaei, the newly appointed secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. On Tuesday, Rezaei urged for a “broad ceasefire” across the region, including Lebanon and Gaza. He stated that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until necessary conditions for reopening are met. His remarks were published by IRIB.
In an official statement, Hamas’s Arab and Islamic Relations Office emphasized that ending wars would be in “the best interest of the region, its people, and their future.”
The organization noted that ongoing conflicts only benefit “the enemies.” According to Hamas, these plans aim to divide the region, create instability, and deplete its resources.
Iran’s linkage of the ceasefire to the Strait of Hormuz underscores the strategic importance of this waterway amid regional crises. Rezaei mentioned that for the Strait of Hormuz to be reopened, the United States must agree to Iran’s demands, which include ending the war and establishing a regional ceasefire.
This development comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, amidst ongoing conflicts involving Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has also made headlines with his remarks. He criticized the United States, stating that due to inferior intelligence, it has failed to accurately assess the situation.
In a post on X, Foreign Minister Araghchi stated, “The United States has long misjudged the situation due to intelligence failures, including the initiation of war against Iran.” He added, “Fake news is worse than fake intelligence.”
