Akali Dal Demands CBI Investigation into Alleged Religious Sacrilege Case Involving Punjab CM

Jalandhar, June 24: The Shiromani Akali Dal has called for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the probe into an alleged religious sacrilege case linked to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Party leader Maheshinder Grewal stated in a media interaction that only a CBI investigation can uncover the truth behind this matter. He emphasized that it has escalated into an inter-state issue, necessitating an inquiry into financial transactions involved.

Grewal is part of a five-member committee formed by the Akali Dal, which is working to mobilize public support against the Chief Minister by engaging with religious organizations and the saint community. He accused the Chief Minister of being the main accused in this case.

He claimed that document manipulation and forgery were carried out at the Chief Minister’s behest. Grewal also pointed out that the Aam Aadmi Party had publicly presented a forged document and subsequently demanded an investigation from DGP Gaurav Yadav based on that document.

Akali leader Daljit Cheema criticized the Chief Minister for allegedly violating laws and the constitution to protect himself, misusing state power and government funds, and misrepresenting the Akal Takht Sahib.

Cheema raised questions about the authority under which the Chief Minister directed police commissioners to obtain fake forensic reports. He inquired whether these instructions came directly from the Chief Minister or if the officials acted independently.

He also demanded clarity from Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on the basis for making the fake forensic report public and why it was deemed accurate.

Another leader, Balwinder Bhunder, accused the Chief Minister of initially confronting the Akal Takht Sahib and then resorting to deceit, including the fabrication of a forensic report from Gurugram.

He asserted that now that it has been established that the forensic report was created by Punjab police officials, the Chief Minister is once again attempting to mislead the Sikh community.
