
Lucknow, August 21: Dr. Hrishikesh Yashod, the Relief Commissioner, conducted a thorough review of flood relief and rehabilitation efforts in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. He visited relief camps in Farrukhabad, Ballia, and Bahraich to assess the ground situation.
During a video conference, Dr. Yashod engaged directly with flood-affected individuals to gather information on the availability of food, water, medical care, and other essential services. He emphasized the need for additional provisions for women, children, and the elderly. The Commissioner conducted live inspections of cleanliness, food supplies, clean drinking water, medicines, and other vital arrangements at the relief camps in all three districts.
He instructed officials to ensure that flood-affected individuals do not face any difficulties in accessing necessary services at the relief camps. At the relief camp located in Rahmaniya Inter College, Farrukhabad, Dr. Yashod spoke with Abdul Gaffar Khan, who has been residing in the camp with his family of six since August 1. Gaffar reported that all essential facilities, including food, water, cleanliness, and medicines, have been provided in a timely manner.
In Bahraich, the Commissioner inquired about the arrangements at the Composite School Anand Nagar Barkhedia relief camp from Sub-Divisional Magistrate Monalisa Johari. He later communicated with flood victim Shivkumar Nishad, who mentioned that the camp provides essential amenities such as cots, mattresses, breakfast, and meals. He noted that as water levels recede, affected families are gradually returning to their homes. The administration is providing returning families with ration kits and other necessary supplies.
In Ballia, Dr. Yashod gathered information about the relief camp at Gopal Nagar Tandi Higher Secondary School from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Ballia and issued necessary directives. He also spoke directly with flood victim Pappu Yadav, who confirmed that meals, clean water, cleanliness, and medical supplies are consistently available at the camp. Special arrangements have been made for the safety of women.
The Relief Commissioner instructed officials in all three districts to maintain continuous availability of cleanliness, food, clean drinking water, medical care, and other essential services at the relief camps. He stressed the importance of prioritizing the needs of flood victims and ensuring regular monitoring of arrangements. Special attention was given to the needs of women, children, and the elderly, with directives to provide additional provisions as necessary. Officials were also instructed to offer essential relief materials and administrative support to families returning home as water levels decrease.
