AIMIM Backs RJD Candidate in Bihar Rajya Sabha Elections

Patna, March 15: Voting for five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar is set to take place on Monday. Political activities are intensifying between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Grand Alliance.

Amid ongoing speculation about the number of seats, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has clarified its stance.

AIMIM’s Bihar state president, Akhtarul Iman, confirmed that all five party legislators will vote in favor of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections.

This announcement came after an Iftar party organized by AIMIM in Patna, which was attended by leaders from opposition parties.

Speaking after the event, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav stated that the opposition had sought AIMIM’s support and expressed confidence in the election results.

Tejashwi mentioned that they received an invitation to the Iftar party from AIMIM and attended it. They have requested AIMIM’s backing for the Rajya Sabha elections, and he is optimistic that they will unite to defeat the BJP.

Akhtarul Iman also clarified the party’s position, stating that this election is not a matter of complex strategy. All five legislators have decided to support RJD candidate A.D. Singh.

However, he refrained from answering media questions regarding any conditions tied to this support.

When Tejashwi Yadav arrived at the Iftar party, Akhtarul Iman welcomed him with a bouquet and embraced him.

This moment is seen in political circles as a signal of AIMIM’s support for the opposition alliance in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

Before the voting, various political parties are holding multiple meetings.

This gathering is considered politically significant, especially since all AIMIM legislators were present, reinforcing the party’s decision to support the opposition candidate. The competition for the fifth Rajya Sabha seat is expected to be fierce.

Political estimates suggest that AIMIM’s support could raise the Grand Alliance’s vote count to nearly 40.

The final outcome may hinge on the vote of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator, whose position remains unclear.
