Afghanistan Police Seize 300 Kilograms of Illegal Drugs, Four Traffickers Arrested

Kabul, April 5: The Afghan Ministry of Interior has announced that police have seized 300 kilograms of hashish and arrested four drug traffickers.

In a statement released on the social media platform ‘X’, the ministry reported, “Counter-narcotics police officials have confiscated 300 kilograms of hashish in Helmand province.”

According to the news agency Xinhua, police also recovered 2,800 narcotic pills from Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, and 1,000 locally known as ‘Tablet-K’ from Herat.

The statement indicated that four individuals were detained on charges of involvement in drug trafficking. It warned that anyone involved in the production or trafficking of illegal drugs would face legal action.

On March 29, the Ministry of Interior reported that security forces had dismantled two clandestine heroin processing labs in western Ghor province and destroyed over 6,000 kilograms of illegal drugs.

The ministry noted that counter-narcotics units conducted targeted operations to eliminate these sites and seized 6,140 kilograms of chemicals used in heroin production.

Afghan authorities have intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking and production nationwide, vowing to continue their campaign until opium cultivation and heroin production are completely eradicated.

On February 24, a statement revealed that Afghan police in northern Takhar province arrested two drug traffickers and seized 41 kilograms of illegal drugs from them.

The statement detailed that the suspects attempted to smuggle 29 kilograms of opium and 12 kilograms of hashish out of the province on February 23.

On February 3, Mullah Kalimullah Nangyal, a police spokesperson in western Farah province, reported the arrest of two drug traffickers and the seizure of 75 kilograms of narcotics.

Officials stated that based on intelligence, security forces raided a location in Farah Road district, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of 75 kilograms of raw opium. An assault rifle was also confiscated during the operation.
