Murshidabad, June 13: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury commented on the recent power shift in West Bengal, stating that the government has now become a “triple-engine” administration. In this context, he emphasized the necessity for the administration to take serious action against all forms of illegal activities without any leniency.
In a conversation with reporters on Saturday, he asserted that every activity in the state should be scrutinized, including that of Abhishek Banerjee. Chowdhury questioned how Banerjee received political support and who was involved in that process. He raised concerns about the activities of these individuals and their impact on the interests of the people of West Bengal. He insisted that there should be clarity on who is responsible for the nepotism involved. Only after thorough investigations can the truth be revealed.
Additionally, Chowdhury responded to the summons sent to a U.S. diplomat by India. He noted that this is the second instance of the U.S. military attacking Indian sailors. He criticized the central government for not taking concrete steps in this matter, claiming that only statements are being made. “I want to make it clear that mere statements will no longer suffice. The government must take action,” he said. Indian sailors are risking their lives for maritime security, yet no substantial measures are being taken by the government.
He expressed that the attacks on Indian sailors by the U.S. have raised concerns nationwide. Chowdhury urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government to take decisive action. He demanded that the U.S. apologize and guarantee that such incidents will not occur again. If the central government claims to have good relations with the U.S., it should engage in dialogue to resolve this issue.
Chowdhury recalled a historical moment during Indira Gandhi’s tenure when the U.S. attempted to intimidate India amid a war with Pakistan. He praised Gandhi for standing firm and warning the U.S. to back off, asserting that it was India’s issue to resolve. He appealed to Prime Minister Modi to take solid steps, reminding him that he has been in power for 12 years. If no action is taken, the public will inevitably question his leadership.
