Mumbai, June 13: Congress leader Hussain Dalwai has spoken out against stand-up comedian Pranit More regarding his inappropriate comments, as well as other pressing issues within the political landscape.
In a recent interview, Dalwai emphasized that women are not viewed equally in society, despite the constitutional guarantee of equal status. He noted that the Constitution does not differentiate between men and women, yet societal attitudes persist.
“Women are not the subject of jokes,” Dalwai stated. He condemned the tendency of some individuals to make jokes about women, calling it entirely unacceptable. He insisted that strict action should be taken against Pranit More.
Regarding the FIR filed against former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Dalwai expressed that such actions are intended to harass her. He criticized this approach, stating it is wrong to cause distress to opposition leaders. “The BJP has just come to power; they should focus on governance and the welfare of the people instead of targeting the opposition,” he added.
On the matter of Salman Khan approaching the Delhi High Court against the release of the film “Kala Hiran,” Dalwai remarked that preventing a film from being screened over trivial issues is unjust.
He also commented on the Supreme Court’s dismissal of Meenakshi Natarajan’s petition, stating that when someone faces injustice, it is essential for the court to intervene.
Concerning Maharashtra’s political dynamics, Dalwai asserted that any party switching should first require resignations. “If they have the courage, they should come back through elections. This behavior is entirely inappropriate,” he concluded.
