Actor Rajat Bedi Advocates for Girls Rights on International Girl Child Day

Mumbai, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : Actor Rajat Bedi took to social media to share an important message for parents on the occasion of International Girl Child Day. He emphasized the need for equal treatment of daughters and sons, urging parents to allow girls the freedom to make their own life choices.

In his appeal, Bedi stated, “A daughter should never feel the need to prove that she is as capable as her brother. She deserves the same freedom, quality education, and encouragement that sons receive. Don’t let her gender dictate what she can or cannot do. Allow her to make mistakes, learn from them, and find her own path in life.”

Bedi also addressed fathers directly, saying that supporting a daughter goes beyond ensuring her safety. It involves trusting her and instilling confidence in her ability to stand on her own. “Every girl should have this opportunity,” he asserted.

When asked about the type of story he would like to be part of if given a chance to work on a film centered around women’s empowerment, Bedi expressed a desire to tell the story of a girl who aspires to pursue education despite facing opposition from those around her. “I believe change begins with education. When a girl gets the chance to learn, she sees greater possibilities for her future and is better equipped to make her own decisions,” he explained.

He further added, “I want to showcase a narrative that highlights both the girl’s struggles and the evolving mindsets of those around her. Sometimes, the support of just one person can lead to significant changes in a child’s life. If a film can inspire even a few parents to change their perceptions about their daughters, I would consider it meaningful. It’s crucial to give daughters the opportunity to thrive, respect their choices, and encourage them to make their own decisions.”
