Mumbai, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : Actor Rajpal Yadav has raised an important issue regarding women’s safety during the Navratri festival. He urged the public not to limit their celebrations to the worship of goddesses but to also take responsibility for honoring and protecting women. Yadav emphasized that every daughter should have the right to pursue her dreams and live life on her own terms, free from fear.
In a post on Instagram, the actor highlighted the tradition of worshipping young girls during Navratri, questioning whether daughters are truly safe in a country that reveres them as goddesses. He expressed his concerns, stating, “For nine days, we worship the divine feminine. On Ashtami and Navami, we honor young girls as embodiments of the goddess and seek their blessings. However, when incidents related to women’s safety arise, one must wonder: in a country that venerates young girls as goddesses, are they really safe?”
As a father of three daughters, Yadav shared how deeply this question resonates with him. He remarked that every father wishes for his daughter to fulfill her dreams without fear and to live life with dignity.
He added, “As a father to daughters, this question becomes even more emotional for me. Every father desires that his daughter pursues her dreams freely, lives by her own rules, and receives respect wherever she goes. The worship of Goddess Durga will only be meaningful when we recognize her power not just in temples but also through our respect for women and ensuring their safety.”
Yadav called for the creation of a society where women do not have to struggle daily for their safety. He urged, “This Navratri, let us not confine ourselves to merely worshipping the goddess. Let us also commit to teaching our daughters to live courageously and strive to create a world where they do not have to fight for their safety every day. Because worshipping young girls is not just a ritual; it reminds us of our responsibility to honor and protect every daughter’s rights.”
