ABVP to Stage Protest Against Paper Leak on August 5 in Punjab

Chandigarh, August 3: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Punjab has announced an intensified movement against paper leak incidents in the state. The organization declared that it will stage a protest at the Punjab Assembly on August 5. A large number of students and youth will march towards the Assembly from the rally ground in Sector 25, Chandigarh, starting at 11 AM. ABVP has urged the people of Punjab and students to join the movement and raise their voices against the alleged injustices faced by the youth.

Punjab ABVP’s state secretary, Jaskaran Singh Bhullar, stated that a recent incident involving the leak of the pharmacy exam paper resulted in 35 students being caught cheating. Such paper leak incidents jeopardize the future of honest students. On August 1, ABVP also protested outside the residence of Punjab’s Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, where a significant number of students demanded justice for those affected by the paper leaks. The upcoming protest on August 5 is a continuation of this issue.

He emphasized that students who have taken exams honestly have been wronged, and it is crucial for all students to unite for justice. He appealed to students from every district in Punjab to gather at the Sector 25 rally ground at 11 AM on August 5 and participate in the Assembly march.

Questioning the Punjab government’s education system, Jaskaran Singh Bhullar highlighted that since the government took office in 2022, there have been reports of paper leaks in 5 to 6 major examinations, including the Agriculture Development Officer and +2 English exams. He also mentioned the pharmacy exam paper leak that occurred on July 19, followed by police action on July 20.

He asserted that if education ministers in other states can resign for moral accountability regarding paper leaks, then Punjab’s education minister should also take responsibility. The ongoing paper leak incidents reflect a failure in the education system, and Harjot Singh Bains should resign immediately.

ABVP clarified that its primary demand is the resignation of the Punjab education minister and accountability for the paper leak cases. If the government does not seriously consider the students’ demands, the movement will be escalated. The organization has called upon students and youth from across the state to participate in large numbers in the Assembly protest on August 5.
