Lucknow, August 9: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that India fell victim to internal divisions and conspiracies. He emphasized that forces aiming to weaken the nation through regional, caste, and linguistic divides are still active today. Social media platforms have become tools for these conspiracies, allowing anti-national elements to spread misinformation against India. He warned that there are ongoing attempts to mislead society under the guise of these conspiracies.
CM Yogi made these remarks during the centenary celebration of the Kakori Train Action at the Kakori Martyrs Memorial.
While paying tribute to national heroes, he noted that today marks the 101st anniversary of the Kakori Train Action. The great sons of Mother India challenged the British government, asserting that the land of India would never tolerate slavery. These revolutionaries laid the groundwork for a long struggle, from the First War of Independence in 1857 to the ‘Quit India’ movement in 1942. The British aimed to plunder the hard-earned wealth of Indians, but on August 9, 1925, revolutionaries like Ram Prasad Bismil, Thakur Roshan Singh, Ashfaqulla Khan, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Rajendra Nath Lahiri seized the treasure, elevating the freedom struggle to new heights.
The Chief Minister also mentioned revolutionaries Shachindranath Bakshi and Manmath Nath Gupta, who were born in Kashi and sentenced to life imprisonment. The British confiscated their estates. Shachindranath Sanyal, also born in Kashi, breathed his last in Gorakhpur. Bismil, Lahiri, Ashfaqulla Khan, and Thakur Roshan Singh were executed. Chandrashekhar Azad famously declared that he would always remain free, ultimately sacrificing his life on the soil of Prayagraj while fighting against the British. These revolutionaries aimed to liberate India and break the chains of slavery imposed by the British.
CM Yogi lamented that the great revolutionaries Shachindranath Bakshi and Manmath Nath Gupta did not receive the recognition they deserved after independence. He criticized the Congress leaders of that time for advocating their punishment. Those who distanced the common people from their heroes have wronged the youth of India. Denying the younger generation the opportunity to feel pride in their heroes is akin to depriving them of ideals and inspiration. The leaders who took power after independence committed the sin of humiliating revolutionaries. There are no memorials for Kakori martyrs, Chandrashekhar Azad, Veer Savarkar, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Rani Lakshmibai, Veerangana Uda Devi Pasi, Avantibai, or Jhalkari Bai, and efforts have been made to ensure that people do not even know their names. Even after independence, conspiracies were continuously hatched against acknowledging these revolutionaries.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to PM Modi for honoring the heroes of independence since taking office in 2014. He highlighted the memorials dedicated to figures like Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, Veer Savarkar, Ram Prasad Bismil, Thakur Roshan Singh, and Ashfaqulla Khan. The Kakori incident has been recognized as the Kakori Train Action, honoring the revolutionaries. Now, stamps are being issued in their names, and institutions are being named after them. Otherwise, after independence, all schemes were named after a single family.
CM Yogi called upon the public to seek out all revolutionaries. Many unsung heroes in our villages and regions dedicated everything for freedom, embodying the spirit of “May your glory live on, Mother, even if we exist for just a few days.” After independence, power-hungry individuals focused on their own glory, neglecting the revolutionaries, who were omitted from curricula. There were numerous conspiracies against the nation and society, and attempts to sow division have begun anew.
He urged everyone to gather scattered materials related to the revolutionaries and freedom fighters. Engage in the restoration and beautification of their memorials, and pay tribute to them. The freedom fighters prioritized the nation’s liberation above all else. The centenary celebration in Kakori was organized to keep their memories alive. Over the year, various programs have been conducted in memory of the revolutionaries. Families connected to the Kakori incident and the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s security have also been honored.
