New Delhi, August 7: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan will commence a two-day visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands starting Saturday. He will participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and other events during his trip.
A senior official stated that on the first day of his visit, the Vice President will tour the Cellular Jail National Memorial in Vijaypuram. There, he will pay tribute at the Martyrs’ Column, honor the Flame of Freedom, and visit the cell of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar.
According to the statement, he will also attend a light and sound show that narrates the saga of India’s freedom struggle and the sacrifices of brave freedom fighters.
On August 9, the Vice President will hoist the national flag at the Flag Point in Vijaypuram as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
The statement added that he will also participate in a state ceremony titled ‘Vande Mataram Tiranga Musical Program’ at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT) auditorium.
In the afternoon, the Vice President will visit the historic Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island. Last month, Radhakrishnan unveiled a statue of social reformer and freedom fighter Mannathu Padmanabhan and inaugurated the Mannam Smriti Mandapam at the Mannam International Centre in Delhi. This event was organized by the Nair Service Society based in Delhi.
While addressing the gathering, the Vice President described the occasion as a historic celebration of the enduring legacy of one of modern India’s greatest social reformers and nation builders.
Radhakrishnan emphasized that “he believed every individual is entitled to equal dignity and equal opportunity. His lifelong work teaches us that true social progress is only possible when justice, compassion, and inclusivity become guiding principles of society.”
