New Delhi, August 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 57th convocation ceremony at IIT Delhi on Saturday, where he addressed the students present. His speech showcased a humorous side as he interacted with the graduates.
While conversing with the students, PM Modi remarked, “There might be something else on your minds. I am not Baba Bageshwar, but something must be going on.”
He emphasized the rapid changes in the world today, stating that no one can predict what will happen in the next 20 to 30 years. However, he noted that this changing landscape and technology will bring new opportunities. Those who learn and adapt will thrive. He encouraged students to embrace challenges and turn them into opportunities, a lesson they have learned at IIT Delhi.
In these emotional moments, he urged the graduates to remember their journey. “Whenever life gives you a chance to look back, you will recall the inspired life, your friends, teachers, mentors, and support staff who have become your family. You will be grateful for your professors who shaped talents like yours and for this institution that has gradually become your home.”
He advised the graduates to maintain their curiosity and learning mindset. “Question things that are accepted without thought. But don’t stop at just asking questions; have the courage to seek solutions. Today, India is working towards self-reliance in every sector, including economic, technological, and industrial self-sufficiency.”
He cited the semiconductor sector as an example. “When we took steps in this direction, some doubted India’s capabilities. However, production has already begun at the first semiconductor unit. I firmly believe that everything, from chips to ships, will be made by you.”
With this strong foundation, he urged the graduates to contribute to building a ‘Developed India.’ “Your role in this journey is crucial. The stronger the youth, the stronger the nation. With this mindset, we have opened several sectors that were previously restricted, creating opportunities for the youth through modern governance.”
PM Modi highlighted the innovations in the drone sector, where young people are exploring new possibilities. “Some are using drones for agricultural work, while others are delivering medicines. Drones are aiding national security, and today, a young person might say, ‘First in my bloodline to make a drone.'”
He acknowledged that the startup revolution in India has been shaped and empowered by youth like them. “Many founders have emerged from this institution. If so much can happen from one institution, imagine the immense power being generated across the entire country.”
