ABVP Protests Alleging Election Fraud by NSUI During DUSU Elections

New Delhi, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held a protest on Friday in New Delhi, accusing the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) of election fraud during the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections. This incident occurred during the second phase of voting, where ABVP supporters climbed police barricades outside the Law Centre, chanting slogans against the NSUI.

Virendra Singh Solanki, ABVP’s national general secretary, stated, “This protest is happening because the NSUI has attempted to commit fraud in the elections. They realize that the ABVP is winning, and their desperation is evident. There was an attempt at impersonation; one girl tried to vote using a fake ID and admitted to being associated with the NSUI. Over a hundred others like her have entered the polling area.”

Solanki emphasized that the voting should not resume until those involved in such fraudulent activities are identified and legal action is taken against them. He claimed that the unprecedented support for ABVP in the first phase of voting has left the NSUI rattled.

He further accused the NSUI of attempting to incite chaos, violence, and engage in fraudulent voting practices. “Fake voting slips have also been distributed with ABVP’s name and NSUI’s ballot number printed on them. We caught one individual, who identified himself as an NSUI worker, and handed him over to the police,” he added.

Solanki argued that these fraudulent actions stem from the NSUI’s fear of losing, stating that they are mimicking the Congress party’s tactics of misleading the public.

DUSU President Aryan Mann echoed these sentiments, asserting, “In their desperation to avoid defeat, the NSUI is resorting to vote theft. They are using fake IDs and misleading images to allow people to vote. We will not permit voting to commence at Law Centre-1 until justice is served for the voters at Law Centre-2.”

Meanwhile, Mann welcomed a ruling from the Delhi High Court that prohibits candidates, students, supporters, and others from celebrating victory with processions after the election results are announced. The court warned that violations of this order could lead to criminal and administrative actions, as well as contempt of court.

Mann concluded, “Even if the ABVP achieves a significant victory in the elections, we will refrain from holding victory parades.”
