Fatehgarh Sahib, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the Punjab BJP’s second “Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra” in Fatehgarh Sahib on Saturday, criticizing the Punjab government’s ongoing failure to combat drug abuse. She pointed out that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has repeatedly extended deadlines for its anti-drug initiatives without delivering results.
During her address at a public gathering, Gupta highlighted that when Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took office, he promised to eliminate drugs within three months. However, that deadline has now been extended six times, raising doubts about the government’s commitment to the cause. “A government that keeps pushing back deadlines cannot be expected to eradicate drugs,” she stated.
Gupta emphasized that the 13-day campaign aims to liberate Punjab from AAP’s governance. Before the rally commenced, she paid her respects at a historic Gurudwara, significant for the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh’s sons. The journey was flagged off from the grain market, with Punjab BJP President Kaul Singh Dhillon, state party in-charge Satish Poonia, and BJP National Vice-President Manpreet Singh Badal in attendance.
In her speech, Gupta claimed she traveled from Delhi to expose AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, labeling him the “super CM” of Punjab. She accused Kejriwal and his associates of exploiting Punjab’s resources for their political gain, alleging they have misused funds meant for Delhi.
The Delhi CM questioned Kejriwal’s authority to reside in Punjab and travel on private jets, asserting that he misled Punjab’s citizens under the guise of the so-called Delhi model. She criticized the state’s mounting debt of five lakh crore rupees, questioning who will bear that burden.
Gupta remarked that whenever Punjab faces a crisis, Mann seems to be “under the influence of alcohol.” She suggested that Kejriwal’s focus has shifted to Punjab following political setbacks in Delhi, accusing AAP of misusing government resources.
Referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s efforts to tackle terrorism and security challenges, Gupta assured that the fight against drugs in Punjab is a collective struggle. She declared the “Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra” as more than just a political event, framing it as a movement to liberate Punjab from drugs, crime, and fear.
