New Delhi, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office in New Delhi has issued notices to Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister, along with five members of his family. This action is part of a Special Intensive Review (SIR) process concerning discrepancies in voter mapping related to records from 2002.
The notices have been sent to Kejriwal, his wife Sunita, their son Pulkit, and his parents, Govind Ram and Geeta Devi. The CEO’s office cited issues with the mapping of voter records as the basis for these notices.
Sources indicate that the Delhi Election Commission may soon provide an official response regarding this matter.
In reaction to the notices, AAP leaders have criticized the Election Commission’s actions. Anurag Dhanda, a party spokesperson, claimed that the situation is not merely an SIR process but rather a tactic orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He alleged, “If they had their way, only Narendra Modi and Amit Shah would have the right to vote, while all opposition votes would be nullified. What process allows for the removal of Arvind Kejriwal and his family’s names from the Delhi voter list?”
The Election Commission’s detailed official comment on this issue is awaited. It is worth noting that the SIR process involves a thorough review of the voter list, aimed at removing illegal voters from the rolls.
