New Delhi/Dungarpur, 5 December (Daily Kiran) – A startling revelation came in the Parliament when Banswara-Dungarpur MP Rajkumar Rath responded to a question, disclosing that currently 316 Indian citizens are imprisoned in Kuwait. However, the government does not have specific data on how many of these detainees belong to the Udaipur division.

According to the government’s response, a total of 13,437 migrant workers from Udaipur and Banswara have gone abroad to Kuwait and other countries through the e-Migrate system. But there is no separate information available about how many among them are currently in foreign jails.

The MP raised concerns over reports that some companies in Kuwait may be exerting undue pressure on Indian workers to perform tasks against their contracts, putting them at risk of arrest and imprisonment. The Ministry replied that continuous monitoring is in place to safeguard the rights and security of Indian nationals abroad.

Rajkumar Rath emphasized the need for the release of Indians detained in Kuwait, provision of legal aid, effective implementation of prisoner transfer agreements, and high-level diplomatic engagement. He also called for the preparation of detailed and separate data related to the Udaipur division and urged special initiatives for the release of detainees from this region to ensure timely justice and assistance for them and their families.
