YSR Congress Party Denies Allegations by Former MP Against Jagan Mohan Reddy

Tadepalli, August 30: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has strongly refuted recent comments made by former MP V. Vijayasai Reddy against party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The YSRCP labeled these remarks as politically motivated, asserting that their intent is to tarnish Jagan’s image and distract the public from the challenges faced by the Chandrababu Naidu government.

Speaking to the media at the YSRCP central office, state coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy stated that Sai Reddy had resigned from the party two years ago citing personal reasons, and Jagan has never spoken ill of leaders who leave the party. He clarified that the party initially refrained from responding to Sai Reddy’s comments to avoid giving him publicity, but prolonged silence could lead to the perception that his allegations are credible.

Sajjala dismissed Sai Reddy’s claims regarding conversions, emphasizing that Jagan and the YSR family have always respected all religions. He humorously remarked that if Jagan had any intention of converting people, Sai Reddy would have been the first to undergo such a change himself.

He also rejected accusations of factional control within the party, asserting that Jagan is the sole leader, while all others, including Sai Reddy, are party workers entrusted with responsibilities.

Highlighting Sai Reddy’s significance within the YSRCP, Sajjala recalled that he was given two terms in the Rajya Sabha and served as the parliamentary party leader and national general secretary, among other important roles. He questioned how someone of such extraordinary importance could now claim to be sidelined.

Sajjala emphasized that under Jagan’s leadership, the YSRCP has always operated through teamwork and remains organizationally strong, ready to face upcoming local body or general elections despite the electoral challenges of 2024. He noted that while Jagan respects Sai Reddy for standing by him during tough times, it is a mistake to interpret that goodwill as a personal political stature.

He argued that criticism aimed at attracting media attention or launching a new political campaign will not affect the credibility of the YSRCP or Jagan’s popularity.

Sajjala urged party leaders to refrain from further responses, stating that the YSRCP should focus on public issues rather than getting embroiled in deliberate political distractions.
