New Delhi, February 17: Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta emphasized the pivotal role of youth in shaping a new and emerging India, which is on the path to becoming the world’s third-largest economy. Speaking at the 35th Annual Day and Awards Ceremony of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar College, University of Delhi, Gupta stated that the youth are not just beneficiaries of a developed India but are also key architects of this transformation.
He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s roadmap for a developed India, asserting that the energy and innovation of the younger generation are the driving forces behind the mission to make India a developed nation by 2047.
Gupta reminded students, “Always remember, your degree is not just a piece of paper; it is a declaration of your responsibility towards society.” Citing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s famous message to “Educate, Organize, and Agitate,” he explained that in a modern context, this means using education to address national challenges and promote inclusive development.
Praising the college, Gupta remarked, “This institution is not merely a structure of bricks and stones; it symbolizes Dr. Ambedkar’s dreams of social change through education.” The ceremony was attended by college administration, faculty members, and a large number of students, who were awarded for their outstanding achievements in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities.
Addressing the student community, Gupta stated, “Your success is a result of your hard work and the guidance of your teachers. Those who did not receive awards today should remember that failure is merely an indication that more effort is needed.”
He added that the real race in life begins outside college, where character and attitude will matter more than your degree. “Do not fear taking risks. Those who rise after falling are the ones who make history,” he encouraged.
Gupta further advised that even in this era of technology and modernity, students should remain connected to their roots and human values. He commended the college administration and faculty for their significant role in shaping the minds of youth for nation-building.
To familiarize students with the rich heritage of the Delhi Assembly, Gupta screened a documentary titled “Veer Vitthalbhai Ki Gaurav Gatha,” which depicted the historical journey of the Assembly from 1925 to 2025. He noted that while this building is commonly referred to as the Old Secretariat today, it holds deep significance in national history as it was the site of the original Secretariat and India’s first Parliament.
