Yogi Adityanath Celebrates Teachers Role in Transforming Uttar Pradesh on Teachers Day

Gorakhpur, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath marked Teacher’s Day in Gorakhpur, emphasizing the significant transformation in Uttar Pradesh‘s education system. He stated that education and values are foundational in empowering a nation. Adityanath remarked that teachers play a crucial role not only in imparting knowledge but also in nurturing responsible citizens.

Reflecting on the past, he recalled that before 2017, serious questions surrounded the state’s educational framework, with discussions of rampant cheating. He noted that the perception of youths and teachers from Uttar Pradesh was often negative in other states. However, he asserted that over the past nine and a half years, the state’s image has improved, and teachers have been pivotal in this change.

Adityanath also addressed the improvements in law and order, pointing out that curfews and riots were once commonplace. He highlighted the peaceful celebrations of Janmashtami across the state, with no reports of violence, contrasting it with the past when educational institutions faced significant challenges. Today, he said, schools and colleges operate in a secure environment.

The Chief Minister acknowledged India’s long-standing tradition of valuing knowledge. While the form of education has evolved, the importance of values remains constant. He underscored that a nation can only thrive when its youth receive education aligned with its core beliefs and values, a responsibility best fulfilled by teachers.

Adityanath celebrated the significance of India’s knowledge and guru traditions, referencing festivals like Vasant Panchami and Guru Purnima. Teacher’s Day serves as an opportunity for educators to connect with this rich heritage and introduce it to the new generation. During the ceremony at the Yogiraj Baba Gorakhnath Auditorium, he honored all 81 distinguished teachers, breaking protocol to personally recognize their contributions.

He expressed surprise at the number of honored teachers, noting they traveled long distances from various districts to attend. He emphasized that teachers not only educate but must also embody the values they teach. Their enthusiasm and presence at the ceremony invigorated the event, reinforcing the respect for the teaching tradition that connects generations through knowledge and civic responsibility. The ceremony recognized educators from both basic and secondary education departments for their contributions.
