Delhi, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic incident unfolded in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area on Sunday when a building collapsed, resulting in the confirmed deaths of three individuals. Eleven others were rescued from the debris, according to the Delhi police.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda spoke with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to assess the situation. He assured the state government of full support from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Nadda directed the director of AIIMS New Delhi and all central government hospitals in Delhi to provide maximum medical assistance to the injured. All hospitals have been put on high alert to ensure no deficiencies in the treatment of the victims.
Rescue operations are ongoing at the site, with Chief Minister Gupta personally supervising the efforts. She is accompanied by Minister Kapil Mishra, local legislators, and senior government officials.
Reports indicate that teams from the Delhi police and fire department are actively working at the scene, quickly clearing the rubble. Some children remain trapped, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is using advanced cameras and equipment to assist in their rescue. Oxygen cylinders have been sent into the debris to ensure trapped individuals can breathe while waiting for rescue.
Nearby buildings have been evacuated as a precaution. Local residents noted that the building was quite old and collapsed suddenly, leading to chaos in the area. Authorities have cordoned off the site and urged people to stay away.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that the government’s top priority is to safely rescue those trapped. She instructed officials to ensure there is no negligence in the rescue efforts and has ordered an investigation into the cause of the collapse.
