Miami, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : A cargo plane operated by Amazon crashed shortly after takeoff from Miami International Airport on September 7. The aircraft, identified as a Boeing 767-300, reportedly went off the runway around 1:58 PM local time. Tragically, five people lost their lives, and five others sustained injuries.
Videos from the scene showed thick smoke billowing from the wreckage. Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosy Cordero-Stutz addressed the press, confirming the details of the incident. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava stated that the injured individuals were promptly taken to a local hospital for treatment.
According to a report from the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department, over 60 rescue units and nearly 200 firefighters were dispatched to the site. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) disclosed that Flight 7598 had just landed when it veered off the runway and crashed.
The flight had originated from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The FAA has launched an investigation into the incident. Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel remarked, “The plane was involved in an accident during landing attempts. The situation is evolving, and we are still gathering information.”
This incident follows another tragic aviation event that occurred in Fresno, California, where a small plane crash resulted in two fatalities and two injuries. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office reported that the single-engine aircraft caught fire near the San Joaquin River, but firefighters managed to contain the blaze before it spread to nearby homes.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently investigating both crashes to determine their causes.
