Womens Reservation Bill: A Boost for Political Empowerment of Women

New Delhi, April 6: Women across the nation have praised the three-day special session of Parliament focused on the Women’s Reservation Bill. From Uttar Pradesh to Jammu and Kashmir, women have commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that this bill will enhance the political stature and influence of half the population.

Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur resident and social worker, Unnati Barnawal, expressed her support, calling PM Modi’s initiative a welcome step. She noted that discussions about women’s reservation have been ongoing in Parliament for a long time, and with its impending implementation, women are ready to embrace this change.

Barnawal emphasized that this should not be viewed through an electoral lens. Instead, it should be seen as an opportunity to increase women’s participation in politics. Greater representation in Parliament will allow for more significant issues affecting the public to be addressed.

BJP leader Mamta Rani from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, criticized the opposition for spreading false claims about the Women’s Reservation Bill. She argued that the bill is in the best interest of women and urged the opposition to support it. Rani highlighted PM Modi’s efforts to increase seats before the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, paving the way for more women in both Lok Sabha and state assemblies.

Monalisa Rai stated that the BJP has consistently promoted women’s empowerment and strength. She remarked that the opposition’s refusal to support the bill reflects poorly on them, potentially labeling them as ‘anti-women.’ She praised PM Modi for taking concrete steps toward women’s empowerment.

Darakhshan Andrabi, chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, commended the central government’s initiative regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill. She mentioned that a special session of Parliament is scheduled from April 16 to 18, where discussions on 33% reservation for women in 2029 will take place. Andrabi expressed confidence that PM Modi will deliver on his promises, stating that by 2029, women will significantly contribute to law-making in the country. She highlighted the progress women have made in education and their professional endeavors, asserting that the BJP has accomplished what other parties have failed to do.
