Patna, April 1: A woman was gang-raped in the Punpun area of Patna under the pretense of offering her a job. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Punpun police station. According to a police officer, the accused allegedly spiked the victim’s drink with a narcotic substance before committing the crime.
Following the victim’s complaint, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, and an investigation is underway. Station House Officer (SHO) Baby Kumari reported that the incident was reported around 11:00 PM on Monday night from Alawalpur village.
A police team promptly arrived at the scene to confirm the complaint and record the victim’s statement. The victim, who works as a cook near Beur Jail, informed the police that one of the accused, Ramesh Chaudhary, sent an auto-rickshaw to bring her to Punpun under the guise of offering her a maid job.
Between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM, near Punpun Ghat, he allegedly committed the crime with his accomplices, Kundan Kumar alias Kunal and Sagar Kumar alias Sardar. The police stated that the woman was given a spiked drink, after which the accused gang-raped her inside the auto-rickshaw.
After the incident, the accused fled the scene, leaving the victim behind. She contacted the emergency helpline (112), prompting police action. Swiftly, the police arrested all three suspects—Ramesh Chaudhary, Kundan Kumar alias Kunal, and Sagar Kumar alias Sardar.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the auto-rickshaw driver involved in the case. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has examined the crime scene, and the victim is being sent for a medical examination. Police officials confirmed that further investigations are in progress.
SHO Baby Kumari stated that the gang-rape incident has been confirmed. Based on the victim’s testimony, the three accused were arrested immediately after luring her under the pretense of providing a job. The investigation is ongoing.
