Wellington, 10 December. The second Test between West Indies and New Zealand began on Wednesday at Basin Reserve, Wellington. Batting first, West Indies were bowled out for 205 runs in their first innings. Blair Tickner was the standout bowler for New Zealand, claiming four wickets.

New Zealand won the toss and chose to field first. West Indies got a good start from John Campbell and Brandon King, who put on 66 runs for the opening wicket. Campbell scored 44, while King made 33 before both were dismissed. However, the team failed to capitalize on this strong beginning. Despite some resistance in the middle order, none of the batsmen could play a big inning, and the innings folded for 205 runs in 75 overs.

Shai Hope, who scored a century in the previous match, contributed 48 runs. Captain Roston Chase added 29 runs. Justin Greaves, who had scored a double century in the last Test to help secure a draw, managed only 13 runs this time. Four batsmen failed to score. Wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach scored 16 runs.

Matt Henry, injured in the previous match, did not play this Test. Blair Tickner stepped up in his absence with an impressive bowling performance, taking 4 wickets for 32 runs in 16 overs. Michael Rae picked up 3 wickets, while Jacob Duffy and Glenn Phillips claimed one wicket each.

All-rounder Glenn Phillips made his comeback to the Test side after recovering from injury. Phillips last played a Test in Hamilton against England last season. He was sidelined due to a back injury but returned after proving his form and fitness in first-class cricket. His return has strengthened New Zealand’s bowling and batting depth.
