New Delhi, July 28: Indian women’s cricket team opener Pratika Rawal has signed a contract with Warwickshire Women. The right-handed 25-year-old batsman will join the team ahead of the One Day Cup matches starting on August 19. She is expected to be available for the One Day Cup match between Warwickshire and Yorkshire at Edgbaston.
Rawal is eager to take on the challenge of county cricket. She expressed her excitement, stating, “I am very happy to join Warwickshire. I have heard great things about the club. I am excited to start working and help the team in every possible way. Playing in England will be a fantastic experience for me. I am also looking forward to playing at Edgbaston, which is a very famous ground in world cricket.”
The club announced in a release on Tuesday, “This is a great signing for the team, and we are very pleased to welcome Pratika to Edgbaston. Our position in the One Day Cup table is good right now, and adding a talented player like Pratika will strengthen our team as we aim to finish the season on a positive note.”
Pratika Rawal made her debut for India in 2024 and quickly became a key member of the team. As an opener, she had a stellar start to her ODI career, scoring over 600 runs in her first 10 matches, establishing herself among the best opening batsmen in the ODI format.
She played a crucial role in India’s successful campaign in the Women’s World Cup 2025, scoring the highest runs in the tournament with 308. Rawal achieved her second ODI century in a match that was crucial for the team’s victory but unfortunately could not play in the final due to injury. Earlier this year, she made her Test debut for India against Australia, scoring 68 runs in the second innings.
Warwickshire Women’s head coach Ali Maiden welcomed Rawal’s addition to the team, believing that her presence will aid the team in the latter stages of the competition.
