Beijing, July 28: Chinese President Xi Jinping held discussions with Slovakia’s President Peter Pellegrini at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi emphasized that Slovakia was among the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with the new China, and the friendship between the two nations has deep roots and is flourishing. In 2024, their bilateral relations were elevated to the level of a strategic partnership. Through joint efforts, mutual trust has deepened, fruitful cooperation has been achieved, and the traditional friendship between the peoples has strengthened. China is prepared to work with Slovakia to build a strategic partnership based on mutual respect, trust, equality, shared benefits, stability, and resilience, aiming to better serve the people of both nations.
Xi highlighted that in the next phase, both sides could focus on four key areas. First, strengthening mutual strategic trust and firmly supporting each other. Second, deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and promoting shared development. Third, enhancing people-to-people exchanges and maintaining traditional friendship. Fourth, upholding international fairness and justice while improving global governance.
Pellegrini expressed Slovakia’s high regard for China’s remarkable development achievements under President Xi’s leadership. He praised China’s ability to formulate and implement five-year plans and advance modernization, which he deemed exemplary. Slovakia values the strategic partnership between the two countries, firmly adheres to the One-China principle, and is eager to enhance mutual trust, strengthen cooperation, deepen friendship with China, and explore new areas of collaboration. This includes achieving more fruitful results in trade, economy, artificial intelligence, digital economy, robotics, and new energy, ultimately benefiting the people of both nations.
