Tragic Death of 37-Year-Old Man After Jumping from Hotel in New Delhi

New Delhi, August 26: A 37-year-old man tragically died after allegedly jumping from the fourth floor of a hotel in central Delhi. The police reported this incident on Tuesday.

According to authorities, they received a call around 3 PM regarding a man who had jumped from the swimming pool area of the Le Meridien Hotel. The deceased has been identified as Divij Maria, a resident of New Delhi.

Initial investigations revealed that Divij had left his job at a Gurugram-based company about six months ago. The police stated that he had been undergoing treatment for depression in recent months. He was married.

Following the incident, he was rushed to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

A crime team was called to inspect the scene, collecting necessary evidence. The police confirmed that the body has been secured for a post-mortem examination.

Investigations have commenced under Section 194 of the Indian National Security Code (BNSC), with efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities are currently examining Divij Maria’s activities prior to the incident and other relevant factors. The police indicated that they are awaiting crucial information to expedite the investigation.

So far, the preliminary inquiry has not confirmed any other reasons behind the incident.

An officer stated that the Parliament Street police station is conducting a thorough investigation. Evidence is being gathered, and statements from relevant individuals are being recorded. Additionally, the deceased’s family is being contacted to further the investigation.
