Mumbai, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Wasim Khan, the president of the BJP Minority Cell, has lodged a formal complaint with the police regarding controversial comments made by AIMIM leader Waris Pathan concerning a disputed site and Waqf property. Khan met with DCP Zone-3 to discuss the issue and requested legal action against Pathan.
Khan accused Pathan of arriving at the Khilafat House and locking its gate. He questioned who authorized Pathan to take such action and whether he had permission from any government department or the Waqf Board. Khan emphasized that disputes over Waqf properties should be resolved through legal means, not by individuals taking matters into their own hands. He asserted that tensions escalated at the site, and a major dispute was narrowly avoided.
During the meeting with the DCP, Khan was assured that the matter would be investigated and appropriate legal actions would follow. He also requested that the lock placed on the disputed site be removed. Khan reiterated that BJP workers believe in peaceful discourse but would not hesitate to initiate a peaceful protest if necessary for public interest.
Khan raised concerns about the AIMIM leadership, stating that Asaduddin Owaisi had previously voiced strong objections to the Waqf law and had called for significant protests. He criticized Pathan for relying on the same Waqf Board that the AIMIM has consistently opposed. He described this situation as troubling and disappointing, insisting that legal disputes should always be resolved through established legal processes.
He further stated that if there is a dispute over Waqf property between two parties, they should present their case through the police or the courts. Khan emphasized that no one has the right to take the law into their own hands and noted that tensions had escalated to a point where violence could have erupted. He urged leaders not to exacerbate already tense situations.
Khan also questioned Pathan’s remarks and language, stating that any violations of the law in disputes should be addressed legally, rather than through individual or organizational actions. Leaders representing communities are expected to maintain peace within society, and Pathan’s alleged language is not acceptable in a civilized community.
He concluded by mentioning discussions with senior leaders and Additional Police Commissioner Dr. Manoj Sharma regarding the case. The police have assured him that they will investigate the matter and take necessary actions according to the law. Khan stressed the importance of maintaining law and order in Maharashtra and stated that any disputes should be resolved within the legal framework. He asserted that anyone breaking the law should face consequences and that no one should consider themselves above the law due to their political or social status.
