Mumbai, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on September 29 that the Maharashtra government is committed to integrating education, skill development, training, and employment to enhance job readiness among the youth. He highlighted that merely obtaining a degree is insufficient in today’s fast-evolving job market, especially with advancements in AI, semiconductors, and quantum computing.
Speaking at the online inauguration of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Maharojgar Mela, Fadnavis noted a significant global demand for human resources across more than 28 countries. The government is actively working to provide international job opportunities for the youth of Maharashtra.
The event, organized by the Department of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation at the SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai, also saw the Chief Minister present appointment letters to two candidates hired by Krewa Capital Services Private Limited.
Fadnavis mentioned that the job fair was part of the “Seva Sankalp” campaign, marking 25 years of leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He expressed optimism that this fair would open numerous employment and self-employment opportunities for youth in the Konkan and Nashik divisions.
He emphasized the importance of education, training, and employment as crucial elements to realize Modi’s vision for a developed India by 2047. He called for a strategic approach to create a poverty-free, unemployment-free, and disease-free nation, highlighting that 65% of the country’s population consists of an active youth workforce.
Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister for Skill Development, Employment, and Entrepreneurship, stated that under the Chief Minister’s guidance, initiatives are now extending beyond just ITI students. At least three mini-job fairs are being organized in each taluka for youth from various educational backgrounds.
Lodha noted that the department provided seven days of free pre-employment training, benefiting 61,000 young men and women. With over 100,000 registrations for the fair, the goal is to connect at least 70% of participants with employment or self-employment opportunities.
