New York, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York on September 29 to discuss regional developments. During the meeting, Araghchi raised concerns about the impact of military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran.
Araghchi emphasized that the UN and its member states should not remain indifferent to what he described as violations of the UN Charter by the US. He called for condemnation of America’s alleged unlawful actions and threats.
He also referred to the ongoing military aggressions from the US and Israel, stating, “Aggressive actions continued during and after the discussions.” Araghchi reiterated Iran’s commitment to defending its national sovereignty and regional integrity.
According to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Araghchi urged the UN to fulfill its responsibilities regarding these incidents and to take a stand against violations of international norms.
In response, Guterres stressed the importance of all nations adhering to the UN Charter and international law. He highlighted the necessity of diplomacy to resolve disputes.
This meeting comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the US, raising international concerns over regional security. Guterres reiterated the need to address differences through dialogue and seek solutions within the framework of international law.
On the same day, US President Donald Trump denied claims that he had made any offers to Iran to end hostilities. He dismissed media reports suggesting that US officials were willing to ease sanctions in exchange for concrete steps on Iran’s nuclear program.
Trump stated on ‘Truth Social’, “This is not true. I have offered them nothing.”
