Vishal Dadlani Reflects on the Timelessness of Legendary Indian Singers

Mumbai, May 20: Viewers of the popular singing reality show ‘Indian Idol’ are in for an emotional treat in the upcoming episode. Contestant Anshika will perform the evergreen song “Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na,” a classic that has touched the hearts of judges, audiences, and music composer Vishal Dadlani alike.

Originally sung by the late Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar, the song features music by the legendary R.D. Burman, with lyrics penned by the renowned Gulzar. Its enduring appeal continues to resonate with fans today.

As Anshika delivered her rendition on stage, it evoked nostalgic memories of a golden era in music.

After her performance, Vishal Dadlani expressed, “Pancham Da (R.D. Burman) was not just a composer; he was a unique force in the world of music. Personalities like Kishore Da, Lata Ji, Asha Ji, and Gulzar Sahib are born once in centuries. The depth and emotion they infused into their music still touch people’s hearts.”

Vishal further remarked, “I can’t comprehend how someone can touch the emotions of a heart so profoundly. These artists possessed a unique power, which is why their music remains embedded in our souls. We will always bow our heads before these legends, as they represent true music for us.”

He added, “I have learned so much from these great artists. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to listen to and understand such music. It feels like an astronaut experiencing an infinite world in space; that’s how music makes me feel. There are no boundaries in the world of music for me.”

Famed singer Shreya Ghoshal, also present on the show, was deeply moved by Anshika’s performance. She spoke about Lata Mangeshkar’s unique singing style, saying, “Lata Ji played beautifully with the rhythm, words, and emotions of a song. Her singing approach was distinct, and that style resonated directly with people’s hearts. The innocence and emotion in her voice were the greatest strengths of this song.”
