Varsha Gaikwad Criticizes Maharashtra Government Amid ₹500 Crore Audio Controversy

Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad demands investigation into a ₹500 crore audio controversy, criticizing Maharashtras government for neglecting key issues.

Mumbai, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions are escalating in Maharashtra following the emergence of a controversial audio clip allegedly linked to a ₹500 crore transaction. Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad has taken aim at the state government, asserting that while Maharashtra grapples with drought, unemployment, and inflation, the government is preoccupied with maintaining its power.

Gaikwad called for the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to initiate an investigation into the audio matter brought to light by Manoj Jarange Patil. She expressed concern over the declining credibility of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), as well as issues surrounding paper leaks and student protests.

“The constant blame-shifting between the two factions of the ruling coalition is evident,” Gaikwad stated. “While the people of Maharashtra face severe drought and economic hardship, the focus seems to be solely on power struggles. The recent revelations of a ₹500 crore transaction through Patil’s audio clip have raised serious questions about accountability.”

She emphasized that if both parties are implicated in these transactions, a thorough investigation is essential. “The ED should take the initiative to probe this matter. The Chief Minister‘s Home Department and the ACB must also investigate the allegations against those involved,” Gaikwad said.

Furthermore, she criticized the ED’s alleged selective use of its powers against opposition figures while neglecting potential wrongdoing within the ruling party. “If there has been any wrongdoing, it must be investigated to uncover the truth,” she added.

Gaikwad also highlighted the growing concerns regarding the MPSC’s integrity, stating that it once held a reputation for fairness in recruitment processes. “Now, accusations of financial transactions are surfacing at every level,” she remarked, stressing the need for impartial inquiries into these matters.

In her address, she clarified that the upcoming rally was planned well in advance and was not a spontaneous event. “We aim to convey the people’s voices to the Parliament and the President,” she noted. “This rally will serve as a platform to highlight how fundamental rights, particularly the right to vote, are being undermined.”

The Congress party remains committed to ensuring that the concerns of the public are heard, as they prepare for their major conference on the first of the month.
