Devotees flock to Ujjains Mahakaleshwar Temple for the mesmerizing Bhasma Aarti on Ashwin Purnima, witnessing Baba Mahakals divine adornment.

Ujjain, October 26 (Daily Kiran) : The holy city of Ujjain witnessed a spiritual spectacle on October 26, as thousands gathered at the Mahakaleshwar Temple for the Bhasma Aarti, held on Ashwin Purnima. This event drew a large crowd of devotees eager to witness the divine rituals.

Early Monday morning, after seeking the blessings of Lord Veerabhadra, the temple doors were opened amid the sounds of drums and trumpets. Following the sacred decoration and Bhasma Aarti, devotees were granted the opportunity to glimpse Baba Mahakal.

The temple resonated with the chants of “Jai Shri Mahakal,” as the air filled with the sounds of bells, conch shells, and mantras. As the temple gates opened, the rituals commenced with the ceremonial bathing of Lord Mahakal using Panchamrit, a mixture of milk, yogurt, ghee, honey, and fruit juices.

During the worship, the first bell was rung to offer water, followed by an aarti with camphor. Baba Mahakal was adorned with a crown, and the Bhasma Aarti was performed with traditional instruments, including cymbals and drums.

Devotees were particularly enchanted by Baba Mahakal’s divine decoration, which included the application of Tripund and floral adornments. Many remarked on the serene smile of Baba Mahakal, which deeply moved the faithful. Long lines of devotees had formed overnight, all eager to pay their respects and witness the sacred ceremony.

According to tradition, the Bhasma Aarti is offered to Baba Mahakal by the Mahanirvani Akhara. It is believed that after this offering, Baba Mahakal reveals his form to the devotees. Each year, the Bhasma Aarti attracts numerous pilgrims to the holy city of Ujjain, who leave feeling blessed after witnessing the divine presence.
