Basti, March 6: In a dramatic turn of events, police in Basti district, Uttar Pradesh, apprehended a suspect late Thursday night after he shot a 12th-grade student inside her home. The suspect, identified as Mandeep, was found with an illegal firearm at the time of his arrest.
According to police reports, the encounter took place in the Majha area of the Kalwari police station jurisdiction while officers were conducting a raid to locate the suspect. Authorities received a tip-off indicating that Mandeep was hiding in the vicinity.
Upon attempting to surround the area, Mandeep opened fire on the police team. In response, officers returned fire in self-defense, resulting in a gunshot wound to Mandeep’s leg, causing him to fall to the ground. He was subsequently arrested at the scene and has been admitted to a hospital for treatment. Police are currently interrogating him regarding the incident.
