
New Delhi, March 30: The Rajendra Nagar police have arrested a suspect involved in a recent burglary at a woman’s home. Stolen items have also been recovered.
On March 24, an e-FIR was filed at the Rajendra Nagar police station regarding the burglary. The complainant reported that she had gone to a friend’s house around 9:20 PM that evening. Upon returning home around 11:00 PM, she discovered that her front door was broken and damaged. Inside, her belongings were scattered everywhere. Upon inspection, she found that two mobile phones, an Apple iPad, a black HP laptop with its charger, a black camera with its charger, a hard phone/dubstep device, a black grenade wireless microphone, a black Wildcraft bag, ₹18,400 in cash, and several other small items were missing.
Given the seriousness of the crime, a special team was formed by the Rajendra Nagar police. This team included Sub-Inspector Yogesh Poonia, Head Constable Sanwar Mal, Head Constable Amitabh, Constable Pradeep, and Lady Constable Ritika. They operated under the supervision of SHO Rajendra Singh and Inspector Vijay Singh Gurjar, with overall oversight by ACP Shivam of Karol Bagh.
During the investigation, the crime scene was meticulously examined, and the Central District crime team also conducted an inspection. The team analyzed several CCTV footages from the crime scene and surrounding areas, gathering local intelligence as well.
Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, it was discovered that the suspect boarded a bus after committing the burglary. The team tracked the bus route using the footage. The bus was located at the Dwarka Sector-2 bus depot. A careful examination of the bus’s CCTV footage provided a clear image of the suspect.
Further analysis revealed that the suspect disembarked at the Dasghara bus stand. The team then reviewed nearby CCTV footage to trace the suspect’s subsequent activities and deployed informants in the area to gather actionable intelligence.
On March 27, the team received reliable information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts. Acting swiftly on this information, they successfully apprehended the suspect, identified as Raj Kumar, also known as Raj Kanwar (29), in Dasghara, Todapur, Delhi.
During continuous questioning, the suspect confessed to the burglary. He admitted to specifically targeting vacant homes and committing thefts during the homeowners’ absence. He revealed that he had already spent all the stolen money.
The suspect stated that he hails from Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh and currently works at a tire shop in Indrapuri, Delhi. Following his lead, the stolen items were recovered from his residence.
The Rajendra Nagar police reported that the suspect has a history of involvement in several theft and NDPS cases, with FIRs registered at the Indrapuri and Ranjit Nagar police stations.
