BJP Unveils Ambitious Manifesto for Kerala Elections Promising Infrastructure and Welfare Initiatives

Thiruvananthapuram, March 31: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its manifesto for the Kerala Assembly elections on Tuesday. The document outlines an ambitious mix of infrastructure projects and welfare measures aimed at improving the lives of residents.

The manifesto promises the establishment of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Kerala, the initiation of metro rail projects in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode, and the implementation of a high-speed corridor from Thiruvananthapuram to Kannur.

Additionally, the party has pledged to provide two free LPG cylinders annually to poor families, 20,000 liters of free drinking water per household each month, and an increase in pensions to ₹3,000.

The BJP also committed to restructuring the Devaswom Boards and initiating a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Sabarimala gold smuggling case.

BJP President Nitin Naveen announced the manifesto, joined by Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar and other party leaders.

The BJP secured its only Assembly seat in 2016 through senior leader O. Rajagopal in Nemom. However, in a tough triangular contest in 2021, CPI-M’s V. Shivan Kutty reclaimed the seat.

Shivan Kutty is now striving to retain this seat, while Chandrasekhar was among the first to announce his candidacy well ahead of the elections, signaling the BJP’s intent to regain its lost political ground.

In the 2021 Assembly elections, the BJP’s vote share was 12.41%, which increased to 15.64% in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, significantly aided by a major victory in Thrissur.

However, this upward trend was not consistent. The vote share dipped to 14.71% in the 2025 local body elections, despite the party achieving a crucial win in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. Nemom remains a key political battleground, reflecting the BJP’s changing electoral fortunes in Kerala.

The BJP views Chandrasekhar’s lead in the Assembly seat during the 2024 parliamentary elections as a potential indicator of its comeback. The party is now working to convert this growing influence into a decisive victory in the upcoming Assembly elections.
