
Mau, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : In Mau, Uttar Pradesh, local police apprehended a suspect involved in a jewelry theft after a gunfight on September 12. The incident occurred when the police attempted to surround the suspects, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Two accomplices managed to flee into the darkness.
The arrested individual has been identified as Mayank Yadav, while his accomplices, Raja Rajbhar and Lala (alias Yogendra Rajbhar), escaped during the confrontation. Authorities reported that during the standoff near Beruki, the suspects fired at the police team. In return fire, history-sheeter Mayank, also known as Prince Yadav, was shot in the right leg. He was initially taken to CHC Ratanpura for treatment and later referred to the district hospital in critical condition.
Police recovered stolen jewelry, an illegal firearm, cartridges, and the motorcycle used in the crime from the arrested suspect.
In a separate incident, police in Firozabad captured a wanted criminal, Sunny (alias Saniya), who had a bounty of ₹25,000 on his head. The arrest was made during a joint operation by the Rasoolpur police and the Special Operations Group (SOG).
According to SP City Santosh Kumar Singh, Sunny has over a dozen criminal cases against him. He was implicated in a recent theft where he allegedly stole ₹30,000 from a man named Vicky after requesting a ride. When police attempted to apprehend him, he fired at the officers but was shot in the leg and subsequently arrested. Police recovered a firearm, cartridges, and more than ₹10,000 in cash from him.
