
Dehradun, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : Late Friday night, a police shootout occurred in the Patel Nagar area of Dehradun, resulting in one suspect being injured. The incident unfolded when police attempted to apprehend two individuals, one of whom was shot in the leg. His accomplice managed to escape into the darkness.
The injured suspect has been identified as Ankit Chauhan. Authorities reported that Chauhan was wanted for a recent attempted murder on Shimla Bypass Road, where he allegedly fired at a man with intent to kill. Following this incident, police had been actively searching for him.
During the investigation, it was revealed that a young woman played a role in the shooting of a bank employee, Satyam Chauhan, in the Badovala area. According to police, Ankit Chauhan confessed during questioning that he had conspired with the woman to eliminate the injured man. Reports indicate that a contract of five lakh rupees was arranged for the murder.
Police stated that Chauhan returned to Dehradun with an accomplice to collect the remaining payment for the contract. Acting on intelligence about their activities, police attempted to intercept the suspects in Patel Nagar. When the suspects fired at the police, a retaliatory shot hit Ankit Chauhan in the leg.
While Chauhan was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment, his accomplice fled the scene. Police have since launched a search operation in the surrounding areas to locate the escaped suspect.
Authorities confirmed that Ankit Chauhan has a history of criminal activity, having previously served time in jail. The investigation continues as police work to connect the dots in this case involving the shooting and the murder contract.
