
Katihar, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : In Katihar, Bihar, thieves broke into a locked house in the Gaushala area, making off with jewelry and cash valued at several lakhs. The incident occurred late Friday night during heavy rainfall, which the criminals exploited to carry out their act undetected.
Neighbors discovered the break-in when they noticed the main door’s lock had been tampered with the following morning. The homeowner, Mundrika Singh, has been in Bengaluru for nearly a month receiving medical treatment, leaving his house unoccupied and vulnerable.
The thieves first forced open the main entrance before searching the rooms inside. They broke into two locked cabinets, stealing valuables, cash, and other items. The exact worth of the stolen goods remains unclear, pending the homeowner’s return and a thorough inventory.
Upon noticing the broken lock, locals grew suspicious and alerted the homeowner’s family and the police. Authorities arrived promptly to assess the scene and have since launched an investigation. They are reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras to identify the culprits and determine how many individuals were involved, as well as their escape route.
Residents have urged police to increase nighttime patrols and expedite the investigation to apprehend those responsible. Police officials have stated that a team is being assembled to track down the thieves and that arrests are expected soon.
