Lucknow, August 3: The four-day monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly commenced on Monday. Prior to the session, lawmakers from the Samajwadi Party staged a protest within the assembly premises. They raised issues concerning alleged irregularities in donations for the Ram Temple, the NEET paper leak, and teacher recruitment.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called for healthy and constructive discussions among all parties, emphasizing that the legislature is the most effective platform for deliberating and resolving public interest issues. Upon arriving at the assembly, he welcomed all members.
He stated that this session is a significant opportunity to discuss and review matters related to the poor, farmers, youth, and women. He claimed that in recent years, six million people have been lifted out of poverty and brought into the middle class. He highlighted that Uttar Pradesh’s farmers are strengthening the state’s economy, with a notable increase in their income compared to previous years.
CM Yogi announced that the state government is constructing hostels for working women to facilitate their employment. Additionally, due to an improved industrial environment, many youths are finding job opportunities in their own districts.
Referring to the Kanwar Yatra, the Chief Minister noted that devotees across the state are undertaking the pilgrimage with faith, and extensive arrangements have been made for their safety and welcome. He mentioned that from August 7, legislators will also participate in welcoming the Kanwariyas. The government is continuously working for the welfare of outsourced workers as well.
Meanwhile, before the session began, Samajwadi Party legislators protested near the statue of Chaudhary Charan Singh. They arrived with posters and donation boxes, chanting slogans against the government regarding alleged discrepancies in Ram Temple donations, the NEET paper leak, and teacher recruitment issues.
In response to the opposition’s protests, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak stated that the opposition lacks solid issues and is merely attempting to create a political atmosphere. Parliamentary Affairs and Finance Minister Suresh Khanna also asserted that the state government is fully prepared to address every question related to development and public interest.
On the second day of this four-day monsoon session, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna is expected to present the first supplementary budget for the financial year 2026-27. Additionally, the government may introduce nine ordinances for passage in the assembly and present the report of the judicial commission formed to investigate the Sambhal violence.
