Owais Yakub Achieves Historic Victory Against World Champion Georgiev, Receives Congratulations from Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister

New Delhi, August 3: Indian mixed martial arts athlete Owais Yakub delivered an outstanding performance on Saturday, securing a historic victory against two-time world champion and undefeated fighter Delyan Georgiev. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah congratulated Yakub on this remarkable achievement.

On the official page of the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister on the social media platform ‘X’, it was announced, “The Chief Minister congratulated the talented MMA fighter Owais Yakub for his impressive win at Brave Combat Federation 107 in Bulgaria, where he defeated the previously undefeated two-time IMMAF World Champion. Describing this achievement as a moment of pride for Jammu and Kashmir and the nation, the Chief Minister wished him continued success and many more accomplishments on the global stage.”

Yakub triumphed over Georgiev in the 68-kilogram catchweight bout via technical knockout, taking just four minutes to secure the win. This marked Georgiev’s first career loss, while Yakub extended his record of consecutive victories to six. He maintained dominance over the Bulgarian fighter from the outset, giving Georgiev no chance to recover.

Georgiev had no answer to Yakub’s strikes and remained on the back foot throughout the match. Yakub had predicted before stepping into the ring that he would finish the match in the first round, and he successfully proved his prediction right with a powerful performance. Immediately after the match, Yakub celebrated his victory by climbing over the ring’s fence. This win is considered one of the biggest in the history of Indian MMA.
