Yogi Adityanath Calls for a Movement of Service, Cleanliness, and Water Conservation During Shravan Month

Lucknow, August 3: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a monthly appeal titled ‘Yogi Ki Paati’ to the residents of the state, urging them to transform the Shravan month into a public movement focused on service, cleanliness, water conservation, environmental enhancement, and social harmony.

The Chief Minister emphasized that Shravan is not just a festival of religious faith but also a message of gratitude towards nature, public welfare, and collective participation. He stated that the act of Lord Shiva drinking the halahal poison during the churning of the ocean symbolizes the supreme sacrifice made for the protection of creation. The tradition of offering water to Shiva also represents the spirit of sacrifice, gratitude, and public welfare.

He noted that Lord Shiva embodies the message of coexistence with nature, and the month of Shravan provides an opportunity to internalize this sentiment. Yogi Adityanath remarked that with the arrival of the monsoon, the earth becomes lush, and the collective labor during rice planting in rural areas reflects the vibrant traditions of Indian culture. The influx of devotees at Shiva temples strengthens the spirit of service, cleanliness, and social participation in society.

The Chief Minister highlighted the urgent need for water conservation, stating that water is the fundamental basis of life among the five elements. He mentioned that approximately 20,000 Amrit Sarovars have been developed in the state as significant initiatives towards water conservation. He also praised a residential society in the capital, Lucknow, for utilizing thousands of liters of water daily through rainwater harvesting for groundwater recharge, calling it exemplary.

He stressed that in the era of climate change and increasing exploitation, it is essential to commit to returning as much to nature as we take from it. The Chief Minister appealed to the residents to make the Shravan month a time for service, cleanliness, water conservation, environmental enhancement, and social harmony, urging everyone to pledge to protect every drop of water and every plant. He expressed confidence that public participation and sensitivity towards nature will form a strong foundation for a prosperous, safe, and developed Uttar Pradesh.
