Lucknow, March 20: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is rolling out extensive awareness programs as part of the second phase of ‘Mission Shakti 5.0’, dedicated to the safety, dignity, and empowerment of women and children.
On the occasion of Navratri, the Women Welfare Department will set up mobile vans, camps, and stalls at public locations on March 21 to inform women and children about their rights, safety measures, and government schemes. This initiative will be implemented at the village, block, and district levels to ensure maximum outreach. Special programs will be organized daily until April 20 by the Women Welfare Department.
Dr. Vandana Verma, Director of the Women Welfare Department, stated that extensive programs are being organized at the district, block, and village levels under the Mission Shakti campaign. Direct communication with women and children will be established through mobile vans and information stalls. Topics will include domestic violence, safety rights, and available support systems. Local administration and departmental units will work together to ensure that the campaign reaches remote areas, ensuring no one in need is left out. The initiative will also be promoted on social media platforms.
During the program, various schemes such as the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, One-Stop Center, 181 Women Helpline, 1098 Child Helpline, and Chief Minister Child Service Scheme will be highlighted. Information on services available for immediate assistance to victimized women will also be provided, enabling them to receive help during crises. Elected representatives, local dignitaries, and administrative officials will be invited to the events, which will be promoted through local channels, radio programs, and various social media platforms.
The campaign will also raise awareness among women and children about their legal rights. Information regarding the Domestic Violence Act, the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, the Dowry Prohibition Act, and child protection provisions will be communicated in simple language. Administrative officials will monitor the programs to ensure prompt action on complaints and effective follow-up on each case. Daily reports will be compiled by all district probation officer offices and updated to the Women Welfare Directorate through the pre-developed ‘Shakti War Room’ by 8 PM daily, following a designated reporting format/spreadsheet. This initiative is seen as a significant step towards strengthening women’s safety in the state.
