Lucknow, June 3: The Uttar Pradesh government held a cabinet meeting where 25 significant proposals were approved. The focus was on enhancing the state’s development, strengthening infrastructure, and promoting various departmental plans.
Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar stated in an interview, “A total of 25 proposals were discussed. The majority were related to the prison department, along with proposals from the Panchayati Raj department and the Housing and Development Authority. Detailed discussions were held on proposals from various departments and sectors, leading to their approval.”
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak added, “Today, the cabinet passed several proposals aimed at strengthening the state’s infrastructure, accelerating industrial development, and promoting integrated growth across various sectors. We are actively working to fulfill our government’s commitments and make Uttar Pradesh the number one economic powerhouse in the country.”
Notably, the cabinet approved the maize procurement policy from the Food and Logistics Department, setting the minimum support price for maize at ₹2400 per quintal. The government procurement will take place from June 5 to July 31, with purchase centers established in several districts.
In a significant decision related to the prison department, a new compensation policy for inmates’ deaths was greenlit. Families of inmates who die in custody will now receive compensation.
The cabinet also approved the construction of new jails in five districts. Additionally, land was allocated for a registry office in Mohanlalganj. A decision was made to increase the fees and allowances for government lawyers.
In a major step for the transport sector, the cabinet approved the operation of electric buses based on the GCC model in 18 cities. Air-conditioned electric buses will be introduced in major cities, promoting pollution control and improving public transport systems.
Several other proposals related to irrigation, excise, Namami Gange, rural water supply, agriculture, and the stamp and registration department also received cabinet approval. Through these decisions, the government aims to strengthen support for farmers, common citizens, and the prison reform system. The initiatives to benefit maize farmers, improve prison conditions, and promote environmental protection through electric buses are seen as key priorities for the government.
