Bhopal Police File FIR in Fake Fixed Deposit Case Involving Liquor Contractor

Bhopal police have filed an FIR against officials in a case involving a fake fixed deposit for a liquor contract worth ₹2.75 crore.

Bhopal, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : The Lokayukt police in Bhopal have taken significant action by filing a First Information Report (FIR) in a case involving a fraudulent fixed deposit receipt (FDR) worth ₹2.75 crore, linked to a liquor contract. Named in the FIR are former Assistant Excise Commissioner Deepam Raichura and liquor contractor Jaswant Singh from Haryana.

The FIR has been filed under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code. The investigation was initiated after Lokayukt DSP Virendra Singh received reports concerning the fake FDR. Following a preliminary inquiry that confirmed the allegations, the FIR was registered under the direction of Lokayukt SP Sunil Kumar Patidar.

According to DSP Singh, contractor Jaswant Singh secured contracts for liquor shops located at P&T Chauraha and Depot Chauraha in Bhopal for the fiscal year 2024-25. The total value of these contracts was approximately ₹27.55 crore.

As per regulations, Singh was required to deposit 10 percent of the total amount, equating to around ₹2.75 crore, as security money. Allegations state that Singh colluded with Raichura to submit a fake e-FDR from AU Small Finance Bank, along with falsified documents for verification.

During the investigation, AU Small Finance Bank denied issuing any such FDR. The Lokayukt has indicated that if any bank officials or staff are found to be involved, legal action will be pursued against them as well.

The Lokayukt police have requested original documents related to the case from the excise offices in Bhopal and Gwalior. Officials stated that after reviewing these documents, they would interrogate the accused and may proceed with arrests if necessary.

Additionally, the Lokayukt is examining the potential involvement of other government officials, employees, and private individuals in this matter. The investigative agency is working to uncover the network behind the creation and validation of the fake FDR.
