Noida Metro Sets New Record with Over 105,000 Passengers in a Single Day
Noida Metro achieved a record of 105,358 passengers in one day, reflecting increased public transport usage and trust.

Noida, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has reached a significant milestone, recording over 105,000 passengers in a single day. On October 23, a total of 105,358 travelers utilized the Aqua Line, marking the highest daily ridership in NMRC’s history.
This achievement highlights the growing confidence of residents in metro services between Noida and Greater Noida, as well as an increase in public transport usage.
In a statement, NMRC noted that it is continuously taking steps to enhance passenger convenience and streamline metro travel. Improvements in ticketing systems, expansion of digital services, and better accessibility to metro stations have positively impacted ridership. These initiatives have led to a nearly 20% rise in average daily passengers.
In response to the increased demand, NMRC plans to adjust train frequencies. Starting November 1, 2026, the interval between trains during peak hours on the Aqua Line will be reduced from 7 minutes and 30 seconds to 6 minutes and 35 seconds. This change is expected to decrease waiting times during busy morning and evening hours, providing relief to commuters traveling to offices, educational institutions, and other workplaces. The reduced intervals will also help manage crowding and improve the overall travel experience.
Additionally, NMRC is considering extending metro operations later into the night. The last train from Sector 51 to Depot Station may depart at 11:25 PM. However, this proposal has yet to be finalized, as NMRC is currently assessing the necessary arrangements and operational feasibility. A decision will be made once these evaluations are complete, potentially offering added convenience for late-night travelers.
To further enhance passenger experience, NMRC is promoting a QR code-based ticketing system and has implemented the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) for modern and convenient ticketing options. Improvements in connectivity to metro stations, including enhancements to foot overbridges (FOBs), are also underway.
Moreover, discussions are ongoing with relevant stakeholders to improve last-mile connectivity, ensuring that passengers can reach their final destinations seamlessly after disembarking from the metro.
