YouTuber Amir Shaukeen Sent to Five Days of Police Custody for Video Investigation
YouTuber Amir Shaukeen has been remanded to police custody for five days as authorities investigate the location of a controversial video.

New Delhi, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : YouTuber Amir Shaukeen has been ordered to spend five days in police custody following a court ruling in New Delhi. The police had initially requested a six-day remand, but the court granted five days instead.
According to Shaukeen’s lawyer, the authorities claim that the video in question was recorded in Ahmedabad. The police are expected to investigate the video’s actual location and search for additional evidence, including mobile phones. There is a possibility that Shaukeen may be taken to Ahmedabad during this period for questioning.
Lawyer Shubham Gupta explained that the police submitted their request for a six-day remand, which the defense opposed. However, the court decided on a five-day custody. The police are keen to confirm the video’s recording location, which is central to their investigation.
Currently, no precise location in Ahmedabad has been disclosed regarding where the video was filmed. The police have not provided specific details to the court either. The outcome of the investigation will clarify which facts emerge after five days of questioning.
Gupta also mentioned that the defense was provided with a copy of the First Information Report (FIR) during the court proceedings. The FIR cites various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 192, 196, 352, and 353. Additionally, provisions under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) Act have been included, although they were not initially mentioned in the FIR.
Some of the charges against Shaukeen are non-bailable. Gupta emphasized that the next steps in the legal process will depend on the police investigation and the report to be submitted to the court. At the end of the five-day custody, the police will file a report detailing the investigation and inquiries conducted during this time.
When asked about any other videos linked to Shaukeen, Gupta stated that he is not aware of any additional footage apart from the one related to comments about an individual from Tripura, which is the basis of the current FIR.
Another lawyer, Vineet Jain, confirmed the police’s request for a six-day remand, which the court reduced to five days. The police argued that they need to question other individuals featured in the video and may also conduct further recoveries. There is a possibility that Shaukeen could be taken outside Delhi for questioning, particularly to locations mentioned in the police’s request.
Jain noted that, so far, there has been no statement from any complainant alleging wrongdoing. He asserted that the case is currently based solely on the police’s statements related to the FIR.
